Marna Regehr, RN MSN, FNP | Integrative Primary Care, Functional Medicine
I am a Family Nurse Practitioner with an extensive pediatric nurse background and a passion for dis-ease prevention using traditional and complementary modalities. In my nursing career, I have, and continue to be, very appreciative of the tremendous technology and knowledge which our current medical system offers. However, I have also noted some of its limitations, particularly when confronted with chronic illness, which has propelled my interest in other therapies.
Having had some exposure to complementary medicine in my early nursing career, over the years I pursued my interest in nutrition and prevention and wellness. I loved learning more about integrative mind and body therapies through continuing nursing education credits, and, in 2001, also completed a Doctor of Naturopathy Course through Clayton School of Natural Health.
In 2005 I decided the best way for me to help empower others in their path toward healing, was to return to school to become a nurse practitioner. My first job as a nurse practitioner was with a prevention and wellness program with the federal government. Now, for the past three years I have had the privilege of working as an integrative nurse practitioner in a Holistic Family Practice in Virginia. In that capacity I have assisted clients to identify various chronic diseases, nutrional deficiencies and hormone imbalances. I have employed both traditional medicine with physical assessment, laboratory testing, along with vitamins, supplements, and homeopathy and mind/body techniques. I am fully convinced that true healing involves not only physical modalities, but the body, mind and spirit. By integrating all of the above, I feel I can empower clients to reach their highest level of wellness.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to now work as an integrative practitioner closer to my home in Maryland, and am looking forward to offering some of the same comprehensive health modalities assessments with Capital Integrative Health.
